Welcome to Islandshire, Robin Elizabeth!

Trudy here. I always love welcoming new little girls to Islandshire. It's my favorite part of being a reporter for the Gazette! I'm a bit behind in introductions, because there are already a lot of us here . . . but today we're welcoming a brand new arrival: Robin Elizabeth!

Robin came in on a bus last week and arrived with long black hair and bangs (Mom says she was #4. see previous post for pics of Robin trying different wigs.). Here are some pictures of her as she came here . . .

But Robin really wanted to have a makeover at the Islandshire Spa, so Mom and Aunty set about giving her a whole new look. Robin's hair is being donated to one of Grammy's newly adopted little girls who has been sick and has no hair --- and she's always wanted long black hair with bangs!

Robin is very proud of her name, because she is named for Roy Rogers and Dale Evans' little daughter, Robin Elizabeth. The real Robin was born in 1950 and was a precious little girl who suffered from Downs Syndrome and heart problems. She blessed the world for two years before going home to Heaven. Dale wrote a beautiful book about Robin's short life, and it was this book that was instrumental in showing people everywhere that they didn't need to be ashamed of their little children suffering from Downs Syndrome. God used the real little Robin to make great changes!

Like her namesake, our Robin loves to wear Western themed outfits, and she's looking forward to getting a cowboy hat and a guitar of her own. She is part of the Islandshire Girls' Choir, and her favorite song is The Bible Tells Me So . . . written by Dale Evans Rogers!

Trying Different Wigs on a Custom #4

I've got a new custom to work on, and she's going together very quickly. Just last week, I purchased a TM #4 doll, and she arrived earlier this week. I'm dying to finish her, but before she was done, I thought that I would photograph her in a bunch of different style wigs. Perhaps this will inspire someone to customize this adorable doll! Personally, I could only find one photo of a customized #4, and they had only swapped to a long black wig without bangs.

Then came the fun of trying different wigs to see what worked . . .

As a note, while the face of #4 appears small, her head is not. It is actually similar in size to the Josefina mold and definitely bigger than the Addy mold.

This is sort of like a finer and shorter version of her original.

American Girl TM #28 Wig

This is a brown, shoulder length wig with side part.

Dark brown, straight hair, slightly longer than shoulders.

Medium length, light blond hair with wavy/curly ends.

Long, brown wavy wig from AG CYO line.

Strawberry Blonde Monique "Johnny" Wig

This is a boy-cut wig in typical strawberry blonde. You can comb the front in any direction.

Short, straight carrot red hair.

Auburn Monique "Johnny" Wig

This is a boy-cut wig in very beautiful brownish-auburn.

Light Brown Monique "Dutch Boy" Wig

Short, straight hair. It's more of a medium/average brown, not very light.

Lt. Auburn/Strawberry Kemper "Tyler" Wig

Short, wavy hair. It's on the blonde side, though there is a reddish cast.

Black Kemper "Tyler" Wig

Short, wavy hair. It's solid black.

LollyLueStephens "Caramel Posy" Wig

This came from an Etsy/eBay seller who makes lots of custom wigs.

It is very heavy and lots of hair.
