A Tour of AGP Columbus (Part 1)

Mom and I ran into the American Girl Place at Easton on Thursday. The weather wasn't the greatest, being cloudy and a little snowy, so Easton was empty. We wanted to drop some dolls off for a trip to the eye exchange hospital, and we had a coupon to buy Blaire's Restaurant. Actually, we were blessed with two coupons, so my sister and I were each able to buy one! There was no one in the store that afternoon. Over the two hours we were there, I think we only saw about five people. There was one manager, a few BTS workers handling displays and inventory, and one cashier manning the register and salon. Because it was this empty, I was actually able to take some real store photos to show what the Columbus AGP is like. This will be two entries, because it's a lot of photos.

The store has two entrances and is rather long and thin. There is an entrance on two different streets, and the store runs the width from street to street.  For these photos, we'll work from the entrance the puts you in the Historical/Girl of the Year area. We'll start with Blaire's section, which is just inside the glass doors to the right. This area is for the current Girl of the Year. Here are various photos, just click on them to see larger views.

At the edge of the Blaire area (separating it from a large Historical area of small displays and rack) is a cute photo opportunity for girls.

They've moved Luciana to an area just in front of Blaire, between the GOTY area and Josefina's display case. This area had been devoted to Tenney, Logan and Z.

Lots of Luciana dolls were available this time (none were out on the 1st of January), as well as all of her collection.

 Stepping back towards the door where we entered, you open into a walk-way lined in large Historical doll display cases, Nanea being on your direct right. The smaller displays in the middle of aisle feature a variety of Historical, Truly Me, Wellie and Bitty Baby items and dolls.

 All of the Historical dolls have a large display area and case for their collections.

If you go to the area behind Nanea and Kit's cases, you come into the Historical displays that are beside Blaire's area. This used to house all of the girl-sized pajamas to match Historical dolls, but they have now been spreading the pajamas into a combined Modern and Historical display which we will see in a bit. All kinds of Historical dolls and pieces are in this little area (which also has an almost hidden door to the ear-piercing room). The three cubed Historicals, being Addy, Samantha and Felicity, are also in a little case here.

To finish up with the Historical side of the store, you cross the main aisle there (over by Nanea's case) and go behind the large cases for Julie and Maryellen. This puts you into another open area the same size and the Blaire and Historical displays combined. Kaya and Melody's large display cases are in this side. The open space is filled with a variety of small cases and shelves, with a few benches and a number of cases meant to be seen from outside at the windows. Displays here rotate a lot, always some under glass and some ready for play. Historicals, Truly Me, Blaire, Wellies and Bitty can all be seen --- as well as another small case of the cubed girls.

This area is divided from the Truly Me, Wellie and Bitty Baby areas by the registers and salon. To continue with the photo tour, check out the next blog entry.
