FLA Vacation: A Fun Walk Around the Community

After so much shopping, Elizabeth and I were itching to get outside in the sun . . . although, the temps were quite nippy down there! Poor Mom stepped on a piece of glass, so she was stuck inside for two and a half days. We managed to get a couple walks in, though, and the dolls wanted to come along.

Gramma's house is in a community that is one of a whole long strip of developments. We started our walk very near her house, right by the entrance of the community. Nanea, Benny and Harold were really excited to be there!

There are lakes all around the community, so you get to see a lot of birds there. Some of the plants were large enough for the dolls to take a shady break.

It was fun to spot the various birds. There was a whole family of Wood Storks in the back yard of a house, which you can see in the background here:

We spotted a number of other birds along the way, as well.

This was a very sunny afternoon, so it was hard to get really good photos. Lots of shadows and the like, but it was great for walking. Quite windy, too, so Nanea wore a pony tail! Lots of tall palm trees, and we wanted the dolls to stand under there. The ground was too lumpy for them to stand alone, though, so Elizabeth helped.

We actually walked about three miles around the development --- having turned into the wrong street. But Harold rode in Elizabeth's bag, and Benny and Nanea rode in mine. So, they didn't have to walk the whole way on their little legs.

We saw quite a few Christmas decorations, which is quite odd with all the green grass and palm trees. Coming from up North, it's not the usual surroundings for snowflake lights and Rudolf the Reindeer.

By the time we got back home, the dolls were pretty ready to relax. The boys camped out in the bedroom, and Nanea got into her jammies and watched a movie with us --- and her special monkey, Janey.
