FLA Vacation: Nanea & Harold at the Navy Exchange

It seemed like a fun day at the Air Force Base would be hard to top --- but it wasn't! Up bright and early the next morning (feeling just a little tired), we all hopped into Gramma's car and trekked to Orlando. Bit of a drive, but nice to see the different scenery. There's a Navy Exchange there, so we thought Elizabeth could pick up the other insignia she needed for her displays.

Nanea wanted to go today, because this was a store that also had postcards and things like that. So, we got in the car and watched a lot of scenery. Nanea wore her Mickey Mouse ears, as this was a Florida vacation!

From the outside, the Exchange isn't much to look at.

But inside (if you're looking for Vanguard insignia and medals to do with the Navy or Coast Guard  -- or Disney/Orlando postcards) was really quite fun. There was a very large area for the uniforms and insignia, so we spent a long while in there. Harold shopped and shopped with Elizabeth. They picked out all kinds of fun stuff. Harold found the medal that Audie needed . . .

Nanea and I just had some fun browsing. The whole wall of insignia was a bit intimidating to a little girl, but Nanea liked all the gold pins!

Another intriguing display was the stand full of Challenge Coins. Quite collectible, if you're into this, there were some very beautiful coins.

After the military stuff, there was a whole little area for the tourists -- in other words, Disney souvenirs! We needed some postcards, so Nanea had a lot of fun picking out a whole stack of them. There were doll pen pals for her to write to, and all kinds of friends back home who would love to see some of these pretty cool cards!

They didn't only sell Disney souvenirs either. There were some really nice Florida things. There was even a great doll-sized flashlight (meant to be a key chain) that we brought home for Nancy, and Nanea found a beautiful little statue of a gold turtle. That was something that would look really nice in her Islandshire house!

By now, our cart was getting pretty full of fun stuff, so it was time to head back home.

The ride home seemed a lot shorter, since there was so much to talk about! We spent a good portion of the evening taking it easy, sorting through Disney pins (getting ready for some time trading at Disney Springs later on in the vacation) and writing postcards. The next day had beautiful weather predicted, so stay tuned for the next fun doll adventure.
